I reach for you with static fingers>가 열리고 있다.
A signal slows the body writes the code >는 몸, 자연, 기계 사이의 긴장을 드러내며, 인간의 불완전성과 영적 차원이 기술적 질서 속에서 어떻게 발현되는지를 탐구한다.

Katya Savel: I reach for you with static fingers
Through September 10, 2025 | INGAHEE
Katya Savel (Russian-American, b.1993) is currently presenting her solo exhibition I reach for you with static fingers at INGAHEE. During the exhibition period, and in conjunction with Frieze Seoul 2025’s Hannam Night program, a special performance was staged at INGAHEE on September 2 at 8PM.
Her performance, A signal slows the body writes the code, reveals the tensions between body, nature, and machine, exploring how human imperfection and the spiritual dimension emerge within technological orders. Over the course of 45 minutes, the artist began by arranging large and small jars throughout the space. One small jar on the floor contained living soil collected directly from Achasan, complete with tiny insects. Once the performance began, she scooped the soil from the jar with her hands and spread it across the floor, creating technological forms or patterns reminiscent of digital topographies. In the final moment, however, she disrupted all of these formations, returning the soil to its original state and embodying the cycle of impermanence.
Seated alone at the center of INGAHEE’s white exhibition space, the artist carried out the performance while the audience observed from outside, through the glass wall. The setting evoked the image of the artist isolated within a sterile white cube, with the audience positioned as viewers peering into a confined box.
While mimicking technological precision, the work ultimately revealed human textures, prompting reflection on the gap between nature and machine, labor and spirituality. It revived slowness, imperfection, and embodied spiritual experience—elements that are lost in the digital age—and unfolded before the audience a trace that machines can never reproduce.
The performance has been selected for the performance program of SWAB Barcelona through INGAHEE’s participation and will be presented again on the international stage in early October.
The accompanying drink reception was supported by Boksoondoga, whose traditional rice wine, makgeolli—born of microorganisms—resonates with the cyclical themes of the performance.
