Global Graffiti Icon M.Chat Comes to Seoul in AR/XR Fusion Showcase
DoubleMe hosts immersive cultural event combining art, technology, and music at EQL Seongsu, August 7–31
The iconic grinning cat of international graffiti artist Monsieur Chat (M.Chat) is making a vibrant appearance in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong. From August 7 to 31, South Korean XR and AI company DoubleMe will host the “M.Chat AR/XR Pop-Up” at Seongsu EQL 2nd floor, offering an interactive cultural experience that merges graffiti art, augmented and extended reality, and live performance.
At the heart of the event lies a spatial immersion that transcends traditional viewing. Visitors engage directly with M.Chat’s signature artworks via real-time AR/XR technology through DoubleMe’s proprietary 3D app, Morph. By blending street art with cutting-edge digital interfaces, the exhibition offers a multisensory experience that turns the act of observation into an act of participation.
Rather than a conventional exhibition, the space has been curated as a destination where visitors can spend the day. Augmented reality installations, coloring activities, exclusive merchandise, and F&B services are integrated to form a dynamic environment. Every element of the venue is designed to reflect the intersection of art and technology in everyday life.
As dusk falls, the energy of the venue shifts. From 7 p.m. each evening, live DJ sets and hip-hop performances take over the space, creating a rhythmic crescendo to the visual immersion of the day. On August 8, Daywalker x AK will perform, followed by Aster on August 9 and Root on August 15. August 16 features high-profile Korean hip-hop acts including Mirani, CLASHÉ, Wetboy, and Boi B. Additional weekend performances by both local and international special guests are also on the roster.
Concert admission is available via social platform Momoboard at a discounted pre-sale rate of 10,000 KRW or 20,000 KRW at the door. Exhibition access is free for those who download the Morph app.
DoubleMe, known for pioneering immersive XR platforms such as TwinWorld, Atlas, and Morph, is a leading South Korean technology firm specializing in extended reality and AI-driven content. The company has developed immersive solutions across multiple sectors, including the arts, education, and healthcare.
“This project is about making experiential cultural content more accessible to the public by merging technology with the arts,” said Heeyoung Kim, CEO of DoubleMe. “It’s designed to transform viewers into participants through real-time interaction and to offer joy beyond just visual engagement.”
Set in Seongsu-dong, a district known for its creative subculture and vibrant urban redevelopment, the pop-up reflects the evolving nature of contemporary cultural spaces. As an event that fuses the creative legacy of global street art with Korean innovation, it is expected to resonate deeply with the MZ Generation and Seoul’s increasingly diverse creative community.
